AICC Chief Sonia Gandhi on Thursday expressed her unwillingness to respond on the sexist remarks on the colour of her skin by Union Minister Giriraj Singh. She signed off saying, 'I can't comment on people who have a narrow mindset'.
Giriraj Singh who is the Minister of State for Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises in PM Narendra Modi's cabinet made outrageous remark on sin complexion of Sonia Gandhi. He asked, 'Had Rajiv Gandhi married a Nigerian Woman who isn't white-skinned, would Congress accept her leadership?'.
Singh's remarks created an uproar and demands to sack him from Modi Cabinet have gained strength. BJP President Amit Shah advised the Union Minister to maintain restraint in public. Within hours, Singh took damage control measure by saying he expresses his regret if Sonia and Rahul got hurt by his 'white-skinned' remark.
