Actress Anjali finally makes an appearance
By: Tupaki Desk | 13 April 2013 9:11 AM GMTSouthern actress Anjali, who went missing from Hyderabad Monday, has appeared before the police, saying she had gone to Mumbai as she "wanted a break from her busy shooting schedules and stress".
Anjali went missing Monday, and she returned Friday night.
"She (Anjali) appeared before police and made a statement saying that she wanted a break from her busy shooting schedules and stress and, therefore, had gone to Mumbai," said Hyderabad Deputy Commissioner of Police Sudheer Babu.
"I will start shooting for my films in two days," said Anjali on her return. She was accompanied by her brother Ravi Shankar and producer Suresh Kondeti when she appeared before the police.
Anjali went missing from a hotel room in Hyderabad after accusing her step mother, Bharati Devi, and Tamil director Kalanjiyam of harassment.
She disappeared from her hotel room Monday where she was staying with her uncle Suri Babu. According to hotel officials, she was last seen boarding a car outside the hotel.
Her step mother and director Kalanjiyam had rubbished her accusations and stated that they caused her no harm and were clueless about reported harassment charges.
Kalanjiyam also filed a defamation suit against Anjali Tuesday for charging him with baseless allegations.
Bharati Devi filed a police complaint Wednesday alleging that Anjali may have been kidnapped and is being forced to issue statements against her and director Kalanjiyam.
Anjali is known for successful films such as "Engaeyum Eppothum", "Kalakalappu" and "Seethamma Vakitlo Sirimalle Chettu".
She made her cinematic debut with Tamil drama "Sathamindri Muthamidu", which was directed by Kalanjiyam. However, that film never saw the light of the day.
