Kejriwal to contest against Dikshit
By: Tupaki Desk | 2 Jun 2013 1:46 PM GMTActivist-turned-politician and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Arvind Kejriwal will take on Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit in the Delhi assembly elections, AAP said Sunday.
"Kejirwal will contest directly against Dikshit. We have taken the decision after a meeting of our party's volunteers," AAP leader Manish Sisodia told IANS.
Dikshit represents New Delhi constituency in the Delhi assembly. In 1998 and 2003, she fought from the Gole Market constituency. But after the delimitation exercise, her constituency became defunct and she then in 2008 contested from New Delhi.
"Dikshit is the driving force of corruption and she should be directly challenged by Kejriwal. If Dikshit changes her constituency, then he (Kejriwal) will also change his constituency," Sisodia said.
AAP has released the first short list of 44 probable candidates for 12 seats in the coming assembly elections scheduled in November.
