Show action in fighting terror, BJP tells Shinde
By: Tupaki Desk | 22 Feb 2013 11:10 AM GMTThe Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Friday urged Home Minister Sushilkumar Shinde to follow up his words with action and not merely reiterate that the government was committed to fighting terrorism.
"Show that you are committed to fighting terrorism. Is the centre's role only to alert the states or help them stop acts of terror," Leader of Opposition Sushma Swaraj said in the Lok Sabha after Shinde had made a statement on Thursday's twin blasts in Hyderabad.
Sushma Swaraj said the central government had alerted Bangalore and Mumbai also about terror threat and wanted to know what steps had been taken to secure the two cities.
She also sought to link the Hyderabad blasts with the hanging of Afzal Guru and asked why the government took nine years to execute the parliament attack convict.
Sushma Swaraj also sought to know if the blasts were linked to the inflammatory speeches made recently by Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (MIM) leaders in Hyderabad.
Stating that the government and the opposition were not on the same page on handling terrorism, she said the two need to fight the menace jointly.
