Usually, Makers resort to trimming when they receive flak post the release for excessive run time. But, Scissors were used for a biggie even before the release and we are talking about it as this development took place post the issuance of Censor Certificate.
Reportedly, Ajith's Yennai Arindhaal (Yentha Vaadu Gaanie) with 176 minutes run time was cleared by Censor with an U/A Certificate. It was because of its excessive run time, The film received negative reactions from the Industry and Film Lovers.
Hence, Gautam Menon decided to reduce the run time as much as possible. The final Theatrical Cut of 'Yennai Arindhaal' 2 hours & 46 minutes (166 minutes) long. While the First Half is about 87 minutes, Second Half is up to 79 minutes. These changes should actually help the film as it improves movie watching experience.
