TRS unhappy over certain powers to governor
By: Tupaki Desk | 6 Dec 2013 5:35 AM GMTWelcoming the union cabinet's approval to the draft bill for creation of Telangana state, Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) however expressed its reservations over the reported decision to entrust the power of maintaining law and order with the governor.
TRS legislator K. Tarakarama Rao said while they were happy that the cabinet decided to carve out Telangana state comprising 10 districts, they had reservations about some provisions of the draft bill.
He said the party politburo would meet Friday to discuss the latest developments and chalk out its future course of action.
The draft bill proposed that the governor of Telangana will have special responsibility for the security of life, liberty and property of all those who reside in the common capital area. The move is aimed at addressing the concerns of people of Seemandhra (Rayalaseema and coastal Andhra) living in Hyderabad.
Another TRS leader Harish Rao said there was need for more clarity on Hyderabad as common capital of the two states.
