2014 AP elections to be postponed?

Though the president has sent the draft Telangana Bill to the assembly, still it is in oscillation that a Telangana state will become a reality before the next general elections in 2014.

But seems the congress high command not at all ready to go for the elections on the united state. The political circles are abuzz with reports that 2014 Andhra elections will be delayed in view of the Telangana issue in Andhra Pradesh.

Congress party which fears decimation if elections are held in united Andhra Pradesh is hell-bent on forming Telangana before 2014 elections.Reports suggesting that Delhi big heads are planning to postpone the elections till the bifurcation process runs its course.

The President has set six weeks, or 42 days, i.e., till January 23, for the AP Legislature to express its opinion. There is, thus, hardly any chance of the T-Bill reaching Parliament before the expiry of the Winter Session.Since the President granted six weeks to the state Legislature to express its views, the Centre can’t do anything on the Telangana front till the time limit lapses.

From Rashtrapati Bhavan, it will go to the Union Cabinet for finalising the Bill. It will then be send to Parliament and will take at least a month's time for notification.

So it will be very hard for forming the separate state in this three months and that may forced the congress to have thought of postponing 2014 elections. It has to be seen how far Congress and Sonia Gandhi will be successful in their attempts.
