Baalayya is a Real Doctor;Says Telangana Dy CM

Participating as the chief guest at the program, the Health Minister appreciated Balakrishna’s services to the poor in providing free treatment for cancer. He also said though portrayed role of a doctor in a very few films, Balakrishna was extending services to the poor as a real doctor. He also praised Balakrishna for striving to make his State cancer-free.
Speaking on the occasion Baalayya said that the hospital was already serving patients from other countries and urged the staff to make it the top-most cancer hospital in the world.Balakrishna said that the hospital was started by his father the late NT Rama Rao.
Balakrishna recalled that his mother late Nandamuri Basavatharakam had suffered a lot due to terminal cancer. After losing their beloved mother, the Nandamuri family conceived the idea of starting a cancer hospital with their own funds so that none should die of cancer.
“Philanthropists and doctors from here and abroad, and the governments of India and Andhra Pradesh lent support to my father in realising his dream.The hospital was started in a small three-storey building with a hundred beds.Now it is spread over four multi-storeyed buildings with 500 beds and is providing quality cancer treatment,” he said.
Cine actresses Jayasudha and Hema, Badminton coach Pullella Gopichand and others were also present.
