Balakrishna in Rajya Sabha
By: Tupaki Desk | 16 Jan 2014 4:39 PM GMTTDP Supremo Chandrababu Naidu is likely to nominate his brother-in-law Nandamuri Balakrishna to Rajya Sabha in place of his brother Harikrishna in the ensuing elections slated on February 7th.
As of now, TDP has got the strength of 81 MLAs and it gives an opportunity for the 30-year-old party to win two Rajya Sabha seats. Naidu wants Balayya to accept one of those seats even though the actor wishes to contest Assembly polls.
Political Observers say, Chandrababu Naidu nominated Harikrishna to Rajya Sabha to send the indication that NTR's family was given due respect in the party. His latest ploy of nominating Balayya to the house is like One Shot-Two Birds:
1) Since few years, Harikrishna isn't active in the party affair due to group politics. So, He will be replaced now with his own brother and this move gives no chance for Hari to attack party leadership.
2) Balakrishna contesting Assembly polls will increase the demand of naming him as party's CM candidate. Naidu doesn't want this to happen and hence he is luring the actor with RS seat.
Leaders in race for the remaining single RS seat:
Telangana: Mothkupalli Narasimhulu, Garikapati Mohan Rao.
Seemandhra: Kambhampati Ramamohana Rao, Somireddy Chandramohana Rao.
