Buyers crying foul over Baadshah losses
By: Tupaki Desk | 24 April 2013 3:56 PM GMTBaadshah, the so-called Summer blockbuster, has left unpleasant memories for most of the exhibitors who bought the film for exorbitant prices. Although the first two weeks collections (Rs 40.86 crore Worldwide share) were good enough to call the film as a big hit, the revenues dropped drastically in the third week.
As per the trade pundits, Baadshah full run share will be anywhere between Rs 45 - 48 crores. Although the films stands out as a highest grossing film in NTR's career, on a whole it's not a profitable film due to budget failure. Many buyers were crying foul over the losses incurred for investing on this Summer entertainer.
Normally, An NTR's film costs around Rs 35 crore. For Baadshah, the production cost is anywhere near Rs 50 crore (producer has shelled out almost half of this amount to NTR and Vtyla as remunerations). This is what happens when Director has no control on the budget and if Producer has no clarity on the business range of the star.
