By: Tupaki Desk | 16 May 2013 3:18 PM GMTTamilnadu Exhibitors Association which is known for striving hard for the welfare of theatre-owners in the state has lodged a complaint against Kamal Haasan for misusing the 'registration number' that belongs to the Association.
Panneer Selvam, the general secretary of the Exhibitors Association, filed a petition in Chennai High Court in this regard.
Apparently, Kamal's production house Raaj Kamal Films International produced the spy thriller Viswaroopam and plans were made for the simultaneous release of the film in theatres and on television through DTH). However, Exhibitors Association strongly objected this move by the actor, eventually ended up delaying the film's release. Meanwhile, Tamilnadu government banned the film's release due to the possible threats from some Muslim organizations. Following the protests in support of the legendary actor, CM Jayalalitha has lifted the ban on the film.
Later, Raaj Kamal Films International filed a complaint with The Competition Commission of India (CCI) against the Exhibitors Association accused it of passing a resolution against the film and it was due the that reason the release for delayed.
However, Exhibitors Association has been claiming that they have never passed such resolution. The members even alleged that a false resolution has been created by Kamal Haasan using the registration number of the Association. Let's see where this is gonna end!
