Dhoni to quit as Chennai Super Kings captain
By: Tupaki Desk | 29 March 2014 7:13 AM GMTIndian skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni has offered to quit as the captain of IPL franchise Chennai Super Kings as his name was being dragged in spot-fixing. Dhone also wishes to resign as the Vice President of India Cement Limited which is owned by former BCCI President N Srinivasan.
By now, it was proven that the CSK team management was involved in betting and spot fixing. Harish Salve, the counsel for Bihar cricket association chief Aditya Verma, accused Dhoni of giving false statements to the Mudgal committee about the role of Gurunath Meiyappan (son-in-law of N. Srinivasan) in Chennai Super Kings. So, Dhoni wants to cut all the ties with the franchise.
This news gained prominence as it happened just a day after Supreme Court appointed former criciketer Sunil Gavaskar as the Working President of BCCI in place of tainted N Srinivasan. The apex court made it clear Gavaskar will only involve in 7th Edition of IPL. Vice President Shivlal Yadav will take care of rest of the activities of BCCI.
