Directors murder: Life imprisonment for actress Sangeetha

A Kollywood actress named Sangeeta was ordered a life imprisonment for allegedly killing a film director and the news sends ripples in the Tamil film industry.The incident was happened long back in 2007 when the actress met an upcoming director Selva (40), at a lodge in Vadapalani on the night of March 5, 2007.
According to Sangeetha, Selva had rented two rooms in a lodge in Vadapalani in the city to discuss a movie project with actors, including the actress. The actress expected a major role in his film and even demanded money from him. However, Selva told her that he was not in position to offer her both.
Sangeetha, who was nursing a grudge against Selva immediately strangled him to death and fled from the spot.Police said the actress who was nabbed in connection with the case, reportedly confessed to having killed Selva.Police caught her again last year and filed a chargesheet against her.
After cross examination and arguments by both parties, the first additional court sessions judge Chandrashekar sentenced her to life imprisonment and slapped a fine of Rs 5,000 on her.
