Mailing to someone becomes the daily activity in day to day life for us.Without email it will be very hard to survive in today’s life. But have you ever wondered about the origins of email? Who has invented email?Who was the master brain behind that?

The credit goes to an Indian American V.A. Shiva Ayyadurai who received official recognition as the inventor of the computer program for electronic mail system from the US government Aug 30, 1982

In 1978, Ayyadurai created a computer programme, which he called "email," that replicated all the functions of the interoffice mail system: Inbox, Outbox, Folders, Memo, Attachments, Address Book, etc. On August 30, 1982, the US government officially recognised Ayyadurai as the inventor of email by awarding him the first US Copyright for Email for his 1978 invention.

At that time, copyright was almost equivalent of a patent right as there was no other way to protect ones software inventions. For this Ayyadurai won a Westinghouse Science Talent Search Award for high school seniors in 1981.

VA Shiva Ayyadurai was born on the 2nd of December, 1963 to a Tamil Family in Bombay, India. At the age of seven, he left with his family to live in the United States.
