GHMC initiates Action Against Single Screens and Multiplexes
By: Tupaki Desk | 25 Nov 2014 10:24 AM GMTGHMC Commissioner Somesh Kumar has set Rs 5,000 crore earnings as the target to be achieved. So, he is leaving no stone unturned to boost the earnings.
The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) is losing to the tune of Rs 14 crore just because of non-payment of Entertainment Tax by Single Screens and Multiplexes in the city.
As per norms, All the theaters should have to pay 20 percent of the amount collected from the sale of Tickets to GHMC. From the 160-odd theaters in the city, GHMC has to receive Rs 40 lakhs per day. However, The Civic Body isn't even receiving 10 percent of this amount and that leads to loss to state exchequer.
GHMC has been now focusing on Enumeration of theatres (Circle Wise), Ticket Pricing and Number of Seats to improve revenue.
