Tamil Nadu ex Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa convicted by a court in an 18-year-old case and sentenced the her to four years in prison and imposed a fine of Rs 100 crore for illegally accumulating assets worth Rs 66.05 crore. Now an interesting news came out in the case
It is coming out the Special Court Judge John Michael Cunha recorded statements of film celebrities like Oscar winner AR.Rahman,music director Gangai Amaran and took them also into consideration while studying the case
According to reports the Gifts given by associates of J Jayalalithaa to music composer A R Rahman for a performance at a wedding in 1995 when he was still a newcomer in the film industry also studied by the court
Rahman and another composer Mandalin Srinivas reportedly said in court they performed at the wedding of Jayalalithaa's foster son (later disowned) V N Sudhakaran, a co-accused in the Rs 66.65-crore disproportionate assets case, free of cost and accepted invitations accompanied by silver and silk.
This same fact became one of the witness statement for the judge to record against Jayalalitha in the pocession of inappropriate assets case. Rahman is among 260 witnesses whose statements are being relied upon by the prosecution to argue its case against Jayalalithaa.
