Indian woman gave birth to 10 babies at a time;None survived
By: Tupaki Desk | 16 Dec 2013 5:42 PM GMTYou may call it as ‘rare of rarest’ things that happen in the world. On a most surprising note a woman from Satna district of Madhya Pradesh gave birth to 10 babies at a time.
The lady lashed all the earlier records by giving birth to ten babies but sadly none of the babies survived. This is a record in India for a woman carrying highest number of fetuses in one womb. A doctor in Rome claimed in 1971 that he removed as many as 15 fetuses from a lady's womb.
Anju Kushwaha who hails from the Satna district of central Madhya Pradesh, went into labor at just 12 weeks on Sunday evening and was rushed to hospital with her husband Sanjay.
However during the 125 km journey the expectant mother gave birth to nine children, all of them stillborn, before arriving at the hospital
She delivered nine babies on her way to Sanjay Gandhi Memorial (SGM) hospital in Rewa district while the tenth baby was removed after an operation.
'She delivered nine of them midway. Obstetric and NICU team at our hospital helped her to deliver the 10th one in the operation theatre - all were born dead at almost 12 weeks. She reached hospital at around 11pm with her husband Sanjay who was carrying nine premature offspring's wrapped in a piece of cloth. The last one was delivered at around 12.31am "said Dr SK Pathak, assistant superintendent of the hospital
The doctor who attended up on her is reportedly planning to release a research paper on this case.
