Putting an end to serious discussions on security lapses in Modi US travel, Air India released an official statement. In that Air India officials confirmed, the identified object is a plastic wrapper only. Earlier media was flooded with reports about the discovery of a defused grenade.
Adding to this the airline officials also made it clear that the Boeing 747-400 is not in Modi US visit plan. He claimed it as an operating flight AI-965 on Mumbai-Hyderabad-Jeddah route. However, when the plane reached Jeddah on the morning of Saturday (IST) one of the crew found a defused lying inside the business class of the aircraft. Immediately airport security team had done a sanity check for the flight.
After detailed investigation in flight Jeddah airport authorities had given a clearance to the flight. As per sources its confirmed that DGCA is started its investigation to confirm the news with Jeddah authorities.
