Its time for Polavaram bill
By: Tupaki Desk | 6 July 2014 11:31 AM GMTIt’s known that BJP led NDA government recently passed an ordinance merging some villages and mandals of Telangana into Seemandhra in a bid to deal with resettlement and rehabilitation of those displaced by Polavaram power project.The ordinance, cleared by the Union Cabinet aims to facilitate smooth resettlement and rehabilitation on part of Polavaram multi-purpose project.
Now the central government is keen on passing Polavaram bill in Monsoon Session of Parliament commencing from Monday. The Central government is determined to push ahead with the Bill to replace Polavaram Ordinance. As many as 20 bills are expected to table in the session and the controversial polavaram is one among them.The polvarama bill is one among the three priority Bills the other two are Ordinance on TRAI and Designs Bill of the Commerce Ministry.
The TRS has already conveyed that it will oppose the Bill in Parliament. Telangana CM designate K. Chandrashekar Rao opposed this move right from the beginning.The state assembly even passed a resolution by opposing the move of NDA government.Recently Harish Rao said that TRS will fight in the Supreme Court if union cabinet pass such bill.We need to see how Modi government will ensure the smooth processing of the Bill in Parliament
