KCR unanimously elected for 8 th time
By: Tupaki Desk | 24 April 2015 8:43 AM GMTTelangana Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao was re-elected unopposed as the president of Telangana Rashtra Samiti (TRS). KCR election was declared at TRS plenary Friday amid cheers by thousands of party workers.
Only one nomination was received for the post and returning officer announced KCR elected as president unanimously. Returning officer stated that all five sets of nomination papers received for the post were on behalf of Mr. Chandrasekhar Rao making it a unanimous election once again.With this KCR re-elected as the party chief for the eighth consecutive term.
However it is the first time after he became chief minister of the newly created Telangana state in June last year. KCR had floated TRS on April 27, 2001 to revive the movement for separate state.
In 2008 K. Chandrasekhar Rao submitted his letter of resignation for the president post. Mr. Rao put in his papers saying he was hurt by the tirade against him and his family by leaders who quit the party in the wake of electoral drubbing received by the party
Meanwhile TRS has turned the Hyderabad city pink which is the colour of its party flag, by installing a large number of cut-outs, hoardings and other publicity materials.
