Legend is 3 Times that of Simha
By: Tupaki Desk | 12 Feb 2014 1:51 PM GMTPlease, Don't jump into conclusion that 'Legend' is 3 Times better flick than 'Simha' content wise upon reading the title! As we are focusing on a different aspect here...
As per the reliable sources, The overall budget of 'Legend' is around Rs 40 crore which is unbelievable figure for a Balakrishna's film.
According to the trade, 'Simha' was made with a modest budget of Rs 15 crore and the film brought the returns of Rs 31.5 crore (share) by the end of full run.
The market range of Balakrishna is now more or less similar to what it was before 'Simha' release. All of his recent films haven't even succeeded in getting either Average status or crossing a share of Rs 10 crore mark. Then, what made Boyapati escalate the budget to almost 3 times that of 'Simha'. Does he feels the crazy combination will set the cash registers ringing (or) the script is much better than 'Simha'?
One thing is for sure - 14 Reels hasn't learnt any lessons from the debacle of '1 - Nenokkadine'. Budget based on the current market range of the hero is preferable on any day, but producers are ignoring the basics and paying hefty prices. Hope, 'Legend' will overcome all these odds to become a Blockbuster!
