Maharashtra & Haryana election results: BJP is going ahead
By: Tupaki Desk | 19 Oct 2014 3:21 AM GMTThe vote counting for the 288-member Maharashtra Assembly and 90-member Haryana Assembly started at 8 a.m. The first half hour of the 2014 Maharashtra and Haryana Assembly Elections have signalled that the BJP have gained big initially. In Maharashtra, the BJP is ahead on 38 seats, Shiv Sena is ahead on 13 seats, Congress is ahead on 10 seats, whereas the NCP is ahead on the sole seat. In Harayana the BJP is ahead on 20 seats, whereas the Congress and INLD are leading on five seat each.
The two states which went to polls on October 15. Counting of votes for the Assembly elections in Maharashtra and Haryana started seen as the first major test of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s popularity after the Lok Sabha polls.
This may be the most eagerly-awaited poll result in the history of Maharashtra, where the two main alliances crumbled ahead of the election, adding a tinge of uncertainty in a state known till now for its largely bipolar polity.
Trends are expected to be available around afternoon and final results will begin pouring in around 3 pm
