National Status for TDP not a cakewalk
By: Tupaki Desk | 28 May 2015 6:19 AM GMTPost the bifurcation of Andhra Pradesh, TDP eyed National Party Status by planning to make it's presence felt in 3-5 states. However, Experts say transformation into a National party isn't going to be easy for sure in the case of TDP. Why is it so?
Expansion of TDP is a tough task in Tamil Nadu due to the fact that the name 'Telugu' Desam Party willn't go down well with people of the Lungi Land. Tamilians have always given priority to language and hence TDP will face issues. Not just Tamil Nadu, Having 'Telugu' as prefix will hamper the chances of TDP in all the other states as it won't be able to attain general acceptance.
When it comes to Karnataka, Election Commission has allotted 'Cycle' symbol to Samajwadi Party. If at all TDP contests in Karnataka with any other symbol, SP will benefit largely as voters in Telugu dominates segments might assume the cycle symbol belongs to Telugu Desam.
TDP is making attempts to make its presence felt in Andaman & Nicobar Islands and Odisha as well. But, It's a long way ahead and it might take several years.
