TDP government ridiculed the planning commission’s announcement and its party leader Yanamala said that the commission has no powers after the Centre took a decision on the issue.He even said that the planning commission’s announcement was illegal. He expressed confidence that the Centre will give special status to Andhra Pradesh.
Seems the uproar of AP government was reached to NDA government and the official announcement comes from its party spokesperson venkaiah Naidu.Development Minister and senior BJP leader M Venkaiah Naidu today said the residuary state of Andhra Pradesh would be accorded special category status at any cost.
Naidu spoke to Union Planning Minister Rao Inderjit Singh on the issue and made this statement.‘’There is no confusion about this . AP needs a new capital and is facing many developmental challenges.So We will try to accord the special status to AP any cost" said Venkaiah Naidu, speaking at a felicitation organised by BJP.
Its known that earlier in March, the Union Cabinet, headed by then Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, had directed thePlanning Commission to accord special category status to the resuidary Andhra Pradesh.Sonia Gandhi also wrote a letter to Prime minister Narendra Modi regarding this.
