PIL against CRDA in High Court
X
A PIL has been filed in Hyderabad High Court questioning the constitutional validy of AP Capital Region Development Authority Act, 2014 (CRDA Act) which came into force on December 30th, 2014. This Public Interest Litigation has been filed by two formed High Court Judges A Gopala Rao and Justice P Lakshmana Reddy, senior advocate C Sadasiva Reddy and senior journalist ABK Prasad.

The Petitioners urged High Court to declare the CRDA Act as unconstitutional and against the provisions of the AP Reorganisation Act. They mentioned Centre holds the powers to identify the New Capital but not the Successor State of AP as per Section 6 of the AP Reorganization Bill.

This PIL brings to the notice of High Court that Sivaramakrishnan Committee formed by Centre to choose the suitable location for AP Capital given thumbs down to Vijayawada-Guntur-Tenali-Mangalagiri (VGTM) zone. It also informs that the Committee suggested Government to ensure least possible damage to the agriculture systems while building a new capital.
