Railway Budget 2014 Highlights

He made it clear he could get appreciation in the house by announcing many new projects but it would only do injustice to the already struggling organization. He also explained the hike in ticket fares is inevitable as its the only way to bail out Railways from crisis.
Railway Budget 2014 Highlights:
1) Target to become largest freight carried in the World.
2) Requires 5 lakh crore per every year for a span of 10 Years to complete ongoing projects.
3) Railways lost 23 paise per passenger per kilometer in 2012-13.
4) Indian Railways carries more than the total population of Australia in a day.
5) Railways facing fund crunch due to Populist Projects announced in the past.
6) Safety, Cleanliness, Amenities and Capacity were given top priority.
7) Finance for New Projects on Public-Private Partnership Model.
8) Pre-Cooked Meals by Reputed Brands.
9) CCTVs to monitor Cleanliness.
10) Corporates to adopt stations for better maintenance.
11) 17,000 Railway Protection Force to ensure safety of Passengers.
12) Women RPF Constables in Women Coaches.
