SC calls Gay Sex illegal, Telugu Heroine objects!
By: Tupaki Desk | 11 Dec 2013 10:03 AM GMTIn a major shock to gays across the country, Supreme Court on Wednesday passed a judgement stating gay sex as an offence punishable with upto life imprisonment.
The SC bench set aside Delhi High Court's verdict in 2009 which said gay sex among consenting adults in private isn't a crime. Later, several social and religious organisations have challenged the verdict on grounds that gay sex is against the cultural and religious values of the country. Today, Supreme agreed with the same version but finally put the ball in Parliament's court saying it has to take the final call.
Actress Lavanya Tripati (Andala Rakshasi fame) raised objections to the SC verdict. "There are more hedius crimes in our country than gay sex, in fact its not even a crime, SC needs to take strict action against rape first," she opined.
