The Election Commission of India replied to YSRCP on Monday afternoon and they said that election will be held as per the schedule in the constituency on May 7 and the votes polled in Allagadda on Shobha Nagireddy’s name will be valid.
“If she receives the highest number of votes, she will be declared elected. A bye election will then require to be held as per the provisions of Sections 150 and 151 A of the Representation of the People Act,” said the commission in its press statement.
Shobha, who is YSRCP's candidate, died in a road accident on April 24.
