Swetha Menon Withdraws Molestation Case
By: Tupaki Desk | 4 Nov 2013 4:11 PM GMTMalayalam actress Swetha Menon recently filed a complaint against Kerala MP Peethambara for allegedly molesting her in public during a boat race. Police charged 71-year-old Kurup with IPC sections 354 and 354 (A) for assault or criminal force against a woman with intent to outrage her modesty. Now it is heard that the actress has withdrawn the complaint
In an unexpected U-turn, Shweta Menon on Sunday withdrew her complaint of molestation against Congress MP
"In the wake of Mr Peetambhara Kurup's repeated public and personal apology about the incident at the President's Boat Race at Kollam, I am withdrawing all legal and other actions against him," Swetha said
Stating that she took the decision after consultation with her 'guruji', her father and husband, she said, "There is no pressure whatsoever behind this move."
The incident outraged the Malayalam film fraternity and women outfits, which demanded stern action against the politician, forcing Chief Minister Oommen Chandy to speak to a senior district official at Kollam. The actor sincerely thanked the media and the film fraternity for extending their support to her and the controversy ends with the actress withdrawing the case.
