Telangana special status resolution passed
By: Tupaki Desk | 15 Jun 2014 4:28 AM GMTWhile Andhra Pradesh is trying hard for getting the special status, Its counterpart Telangana CM KCR also pressing hard to achieve special status for Telangana.The first session of the Telangana State Legislative Assembly concluded on Saturday with the passing of 12 different resolutions moved by Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao and one among them was special status to telangana districts.
The Assembly passed a motion that Telangana should be accorded with the special status and center should treat both Telangana and Andhra Pradesh as the same.The House passed a resolution seeking special category status for nine out of 10 districts of Telangana. The Chief Minister contended that nearly 85% of the SC, ST, BC and minority communities living in all districts of Telangana, except Hyderabad, were backward and therefore, he requested the Centre to grant special status to each of these nine districts.The house opined that Telangana will meet the norms of National Development council.
Telangana government also passed a motion for requesting center to change Polavaram design and opposing merging of 7 mandals of Bhadrachalam in to AP.Its worth to mention that Planning Commission has virtually ruled out the Special Category Status to Andhra Pradesh.As per the set guidelines, Andhra Pradesh does not qualify.
