Over Nine lakhs condoms were sold out within fifteen days’ time .
The condoms was ordered by Washington-based nonprofit organization DKT International and distributed under the brand name Prudence .These special-edition Prudence condoms are available only in Brazil.
‘’About 900,000 packs of three, have been sold since the condoms hit store shelves. We presumed this will serve the need of three months but we it was sold out in 15 days only. An additional batch of 864,000 condoms was distributed in Brazil this week.’’ said DKT International's director for Brazil operations, Daniel Marun.
‘’ Major sports or cultural events attract a great number of people and garner much attention, providing a good opportunity to spread a pleasurable and fun safe-sex message’’ He added
These special-edition Prudence condoms have been branded the unofficial contraceptive of the World Cup. The condoms are flavored to taste like Brazil's signature cocktail, the Caipirinha.
