Three-Month-Old becomes Fire Baby

A three-month-old boy Rahul was brought to Kilpauk Medical College Hospital in Chennai with 10 percent burns. He is a native of Vilupuram district in Tamilnadu.

Doctors confirmed that its a case of Spontaneous Human Combustion (SHC) which causes spontaneous burns due to gases and fluids emitted by the body. Its a rare medical condition and only 200 such cases have been reported in the past three centuries.

Chennai doctors have confirmed that the condition of the boy is improving and further treatment would depend on the results of the medical tests. As this is a very rare case, Doctors have been researching on how to deal with such cases.

A doctor has explained that heavy drinking could make the body release alcohol like substances that attract fire. But, they were clue less on what's happening with the three-month-old boy.
