Tribunal Warning to TS Govt
By: Tupaki Desk | 29 Oct 2014 2:49 PM GMTTelangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao unofficially imposed a ban on the TV9 and ABN Andhra Jyothy News channels in the Telangana state and it earned lot of furor from media houses.Now the issue took new turn with interference of TDSAT (Telecom Disputes Settlement and Appellate Tribunal)
TDSAT demanded that TRS government take immediate action to revive ABN Andhra Jyothi and TV9 channels which were shut down about a month ago.The TDSAT has taken a serious view of continued bar on telecast of TV9 programmes in Telangana and diected Telangaan CS to file an affidavit.
Taking a strong view of blacklisting of some channels in Telangana, the TDSAT directed the Telangana state government and Multi-System Operators (MSOs) to resume transmission of a popular news channel without any delay.The Tribunal termed the blacklisting as an unnecessary punishment for TV9 .The TDSAT also directed the Home Secretary of Telangana and Hyderabad Police to ensure necessary protection to the Telangana MSOs.
Meanwhile TV9 channel received a blanket ban in the Telangana state after showing the elected Telangana State legislators in bad light and also passing derogatory comments on them in their Bullet News’ program aired on June 12th.
