Kamal has been planning to revive the project since very long. In 2012, the actor announced that the budget of the film
was increased to Rs 150 crore and his contemporary actor Rajinikanth will feature in a pivotal role.
Cinematographer Muthukumar recollects the moment when Kamal fumed at him for committing a mistake while shooting for this prestigious film. For a sequence shot in a dense forest in South, Kamal had to be chased by the goons and the actor goes to the top of a hill and rolls down a huge rock to kill his enemies. Kamal got every right, but the cameraman failed to capture a crucial moment. In a serious tone, the versatile actor asked the ace cinematographer to concentrate on work.
