We cant Compete With AP:Congress CM
By: Tupaki Desk | 21 Sep 2014 8:36 AM GMTIts known that Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu has beaten his Karnataka counterpart Siddaramaiah in clinching the Hero MotoCorp project. The plant, which was earlier expected to come up at village near Dharwad, would now be set up in Chittoor district of Andhra Pradesh.
This debacle has raised questions and Karanataka chief minister comes under severe criticism from opposition BJP.After severe attack from Opposition BJO the Congress Chief mInister finally came to media explaining the reasons behind debacle.
Sidda Ramaaiah argued that that his government had done all it could to meet the company's demands. He tied to cover it saying that Andhra Pradesh had received huge tax exemptions from the Centre after the creation of Telengana and hence was able to be more aggressive in wooing investors.Siddu said his government also offered same incentives to the company like Andhra Pradesh but the later managed to win the plant by offering free land.
Siddaramaiah called Andhra Pradesh as a desperate state trying to lure investors and said that its hard to compete with the state as it had support of centre and getting priority with the special incentives provided by the Centre.
‘’Tax sops from the Centre to newly-created States decisively swung the Hero MotoCorp’s ₹3,000-crore project in favour of Andhra Pradesh.’’He said. The company will be investing 3000 Crores in this plant which will ensure 1000 direct employment. This is the sixth manufacturing facility for the company across the country.
