Youth arrested for creating fake FB profile of TV actor

Madhapur police have arrested a second-year BCom student Gopinath hailed from Khammam on the charges of creating a fake profile of a famous serial actor, Sagar, who became a household after acting in Mogali Rekulu.

The accused created a fake profile of Sagar and had been approaching women and chatting with them as the actor. According to reports, the youth created a Facebook account in Sagar's name, and put a picture of the actor as his profile picture. He sent and received several friend requests from many girls. Believing him as Sagar many females accepted his friend request.

While chatting with the female friend in the list he persuaded them into believing that he is indeed the actor and got some female friends phone numbers also.He also requested for donations for various social activities he is involved. When Sagar got to know about this from one of his close fan he approached the police and complained on fake profile.

Police then laid a trap to the accused as they approached him online telling they were interested in making a donation. Not knowing all this, Gopinath came down to collect the money and was arrested.

The fraudster has been booked under sections 419, 420 of the IPC. Sagar requested his fans not to get cheated by fake profiles as he is not having any social networking profiles.
