Speaking at the press club in 'Meet The Press' program, AP Chief Election Commissioner Bhanwar Lal declared votes polled for YSR Congress Allagadda candidate Shobha Nagireddy who passed away recently will be treated as invalid.
As per Conduct of Election - Section 52, A re-election or change of candidate willn't be allowed if the deceased doesn't belongs to a recognized party. This applies for YSR Congress as its a registered party but not a recognized party.
In case of recognized party, EC will allow the party to replace the deceased candidate within 1 week.
Bhanwar Lal asserts: "Even if Shobha Nagireddy gets maximum votes, the other person who comes second will be declared as a winner".
What will YSR Congress do now? Will Jagan lures an Independent candidate for TDP candidate? Let's see!
