AIADMK Legislator P Vetrivel on Sunday submitted his resignation paving way for the by-poll in his Assembly segment within 6 months. Having quoted no reason for his resignation itself is a hint that J Jayalalithaa who was acquitted from illegal assets case recently will be contesting in the by-election.
Tamil Nadu legislative assembly secretary AMP Jamaludeen issued a statement informing P Vetrivel has resigned as a legislator and it has been accepted immediately.
P Vetrivel has been representing Radhakrishnan Nagar constituency in North Chennai till date. Now, Jayalaithaa is all set to get re-elected to the House from this assembly segment.
In 2011, Jayalalithaa was elected from Srirangam constituency. She, however, had to resign as MLA and Chief Minister after being convicted in the Rs 66 crore disproportionate assets case.
