Congress MP Birender Singh created a sensation on Monday by announcing berths in the Upper House are available for Rs 100 crore.
Addressing a group at a programme, Birender Singh said once someone has told him Rs 100 crore is all one needs to get a Rajya Sabha berth and also added that person has saved Rs 20 crore by spending only Rs 80 crore. Mr. Singh questioned whether people who invest Rs 100 crore care for the poor in the country.
Birender Singh hails from Haryana and he was the AICC general secretary in charge of Himachal Pradesh till recently. He was also considered for the Union Cabinet berth in the recent reshuffle.
Singh's remarks only hint, how the politics in the country have been brought to such low level by the political parties.
