The AP state bifurcation bill is not likely to table in Rajya Sabha today despite President’s approval to the controversial bill. Contrary to earlier expectations; the Telangana bill will now be introduced in Lok Sabha first instead of Rajya Sabha
According to reports Rajya Sabha chairman Hameed Ansari sent back the bill by citing it as monetary bill. The bill deals with some financial instruments and as per Article 117(1) of the Constitution, a money bill cannot be introduced in Rajya Sabha.
Now Home Ministry officials have decided to introduce the bill in Lok Sabha directly and the bill has been sent to the president Pranab Mukarjee approval. Now the fresh recommendation of President has been sought for the legislation's introduction in Lok Sabha. The date of introduction of the bill will be decided by speaker Meira Kumar and most probably it will be on tomorrow
