Finance Minister Abdul Rahim Rather's defeat ends record 36-year stint in Jammu & Kashmir Assembly.Jammu and Kashmir assembly poll results giving series of surprises to the analyats.BJP puts  up a spectacular show and it won good number of seats and giving tough competition to Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

It’s known that J&K Chief Minister Omar Abdullah was defeated in the Sonawar assembly constituency.not only Chief Minister, several ministers were defeated and notable among them was Finance Minister Abdul Rahim Rather who was winning seat from past 36 years.

Rather representing Charar-e-Sharief constituency for a record 36 years in the Assembly and today he lost it to PDP candidate and former Legislative Council chairman Ghulam Nabi.rather defeated last time in 1972 and after 36 years he was defeated with 5,000 votes. Gulam Nabi  contested against rather in 2002 and 2008 but he lost  two times and third time he won the seat.
