Rather representing Charar-e-Sharief constituency for a record 36 years in the Assembly and today he lost it to PDP candidate and former Legislative Council chairman Ghulam Nabi.rather defeated last time in 1972 and after 36 years he was defeated with 5,000 votes. Gulam Nabi contested against rather in 2002 and 2008 but he lost two times and third time he won the seat.
