Without much surprise to all Sirikonda Madhusudana Chary, TRS MLA from Bhupalapally Assembly became the first Speaker of the Telangana State Assembly.He was elected unanimously as no one filed the nomination papers against him.
Protem Speaker K. Jana Reddy issued election notification for the post earlier in the day and all nine parties in the house filed nominations on behalf of Madhusudana Chary. After house met in afternoon Jana Reddy announced him as the speaker of Telangna.
Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao and floor leaders of the opposition parties Geetha Reddy (Congress), Errabelli Dayaker Rao (TDP) and Dr K Laxman (BJP) cordially accompanied him towards the speaker’s chair.
Speaking in the Assembly, Chief Minister congratulated Madhusudana Chary, on being the first speaker of Telangana Assembly. He also said that Madhusudana Chary's role in the Telangana movement will be remembered forever.
Madhusudana Chary played an important role in the Telangana movement. He is also considered to be extremely close to KCR. Sources say that TRS leadership is considering Medak MLA Padma Devender Reddy for deputy speaker’s post.
The Speaker's post was earlier offered to MLAs Koppula Eshwar, Pocharam Srinivas Reddy, Bajireddy Govardhan and Konda Surekha. However, all of them declined the offer and finally Chary was selected for the hot seat of T-assembly.
