YSR Congress chief YS Jaganmohan Reddy's support to TDP Government's proposal of 'Vijayawada' as capital came as a surprise to his own party men hailing from Rayalseema.
While YSR Congress have 35 MLAs in Andhra, It has got 28 MLAs in Rayalseema region. In the 5 districts (East Godavari, West Godavari, Krishna, Guntur, Prakasam) which gonna receive maximum benefit from capital,
YSRC have 20 MLAs and hence Jagan succumbed to the pressure of Coastal MLAs. Even Yuva Neta feared opposing Vijayawada as capital would invite the wrath of people of Coastal Andhra.
Analysts say, Jagan did fall in the trap set by Chandrababu Naidu. To avoid the threat of Coastal Andhra people treating him as Rayalseema leader alone, Jagan agreed to dance to the tunes of the ruling party.
