Tamilnadu CM Amma Jayalalitha is getting ready to face by –election. Its known that Jaya lost her MLA post after she was convicted by the court in disproportionate assets case. Later Karnataka High Court acquitted her of corruption charges.
Jaya returned to office after the Karnataka High Court acquitted her and three others of corruption charges in a disproportionate assets case.
Now this by election was necessitated to bring her back to the Tamil Nadu assembly. The election will be held tomorrow and Jayalalithaaa faces CPI candidate in the Radhakrishnan Nagar.
Around 250,000 voters are eligible to take part in the electoral battle.There are also 26 other independents and candidates from small parties in the fray .The polling will begin at 8 a.m. and close at 5 p.m.
Opposition parties like the DMK, the PMK, the DMDK, the Congress, the BJP and the MDMK have decided to stay away from the Saturday contest. The votes will be counted on June 30.
There is also speculation that Ms Jayalalithaa could seek early state elections. Tamil Nadu is due to vote for a new assembly in less than a year.
