US Students assist Mission Kakaitiya Programme

About 7 Research Students of University of Michigan (UoM) in US teamed up with Telangana Government for the Mission Kakatiya programme. This Group will create awareness among Farmers on how to apply silt from minor irrigation tanks in their farms and would also conduct an impact assessment study.

The Research Students who were working for the international inter-disciplinary project of UoM under the supervision of 2 Professors will receive a fund of $100,000 for the reasearch. They visited Telangana, met Irrigation Minister Harish Rao and also conducted meeting with farmers in some villages.

US Students explained to Farmers about the advantages of silt application and sale of carbon credits by minimizing the use of fertilizers.  They assure de-silting of irrigation tanks will reduce farmers dependence on Chemical Fertilizers.
