The YSRCP leaders recently met the Anantapur collector and Election Commission and seeks a direction to stop the screening of ‘Legend’ film, in which the TDP leader and cine actor N Balakrishna is the hero.
Acting upon their request EC clarified that there is no ban on Legend film .According to guidelines, films of people contesting elections should not be telecast on Doordarshan but there cannot be a ban on the films in private channels or film theaters. And in the case of Legend, Election Commission already cleared the film even before the release. So there is no possibility of imposing ban on the film.
It is known that the YSRCP legal cell convenor Narayana Reddy and co-ordinator Adinarayana had last week submitted a petition saying that the film is likely to influence the voters in favour of Balakrishna who is contesting the Hindupur Assembly seat as a TDP candidate.
