Ponty killing: Seven suspects sent to judicial custody

A Delhi court Thursday sent to judicial custody till March 28 seven accused, who earlier surrendered before the judge, in the murder of liquor baron Ponty Chadha and his brother Hardeep in November 2012.

Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (CMM) Raj Kumar Tripathi sent the seven accused to judicial custody till March 28. They were in police custody.

The accused were chargesheeted along with Uttarakhand Minorities Commission's sacked chairman S.S. Namdhari and other accused.

The surrendered accused sent to judicial custody are Satnam Singh, Balkar Singh, Baaj Singh, Pargat Singh, Kulbir Singh, Bakshish Singh and Hardayal Singh.

The court earlier issued non-bailable warrants against them and two others, who are still absconding, and ordered initiation of proceedings to declare them absconders.

Police filed the chargesheet against Namdhari, his personal security officer Sachin Tyagi and 20 others in cases related to the bloody shootout.

Ponty Chadha and his brother were killed at a farmhouse in Chhatarpur in south Delhi Nov 17, 2012 allegedly over a property dispute.
