Update: 2014-08-26 08:42 GMT

Senior BJP leader CH Vidyasagar Rao has been appointed as Maharashtra Governor on Tuesday. Orders have been issued by President of India Pranab Mukherhji in this regard a short while ago.

CH Vidyasagar Rao was a 3-time MLA and 2-time MP. He, however, got defeated in the recent general election.

Narendra Modi has been giving more prominence to the leaders who are loyal to the party in the past decade when NDA wasn't in power. Hence, He preferred Vidyasagar Rao for replacing Shankara Narayan who served as Maharashtra Governor till now.

Modi Government also appointed Kalyan Singh as Rajasthan Governor, Mrudula Sinha as Goa Governor and VR Wala as Karnataka Governor.
