N. Shankar, who is known for his films such as Jai Bolo Telangana, Raam and Jayadam Manade Ra, recently expressed interest to join politics and it was also reported that the director is likely to contest the general elections either on the TRS or congress ticket.
But the director has received shock with the announcement of party candidates as his name was not found anywhere. Shankar is seriously lobbied for Miryalaguda constituency in Nalgonda district but Owing to pressure from district leaders both the parties has now gone back on their words .According to sources the director who was highly confident on his victory over the constituency is all set to contest as independent.
BC associations and other JACs have been asking the film personality to contest from the constituency as an independent and Shankar has agreed.
“Family politics should not be allowed at any cost. Political parties are not interested in giving tickets to BC leaders. They are giving tickets only to their family members or their followers.So I decided to contest as Independent and I am contesting from Miryalaguda" said Sankar.
Shankar is now helming Telangana Cinema Force (TCF) and has no big projects in hand. As of now, Shankar's political fate is hanging in balance.Julakanti Ranga Reddy from CPM, Amarendra Reddy from TRS, N.Bhaskar Rao and Bantu Venkateswarlu from TDP are the candidates contesting from here.
