KCR and Telangana government finally stepped back on FAST(Financial Assistance to Students ) scheme.The Telangana government has recently decided to introduce a new scheme 'Financial Assistance to Students of Telangana' (FAST) and the students should be natives of Telangana before 1956 to benefit from the scheme.The guidelines of new scheme created several headaches for the government .
The issue also reached to High Court and the court observed that the GO appears to be encouraging separatist tendencies. The court also observed that students from other States would not come to Telangana State as the impugned GO would not help them.After the high court slashed government’s stand on this scheme calling it Anti-National, the state cabinet decided to drop the scheme.
The State government on Friday decided to withdraw its controversial proposal to introduce the ‘Financial Assistance to Students of Telangana’ (FAST) scheme in place of the fee reimbursement scheme.the decision was announced by CM KCR after the marathon cabinet meet.
“Fee reimbursement scheme will be continued in its old form, applying Article 371(D) of the Constitution,” Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao .With the cancellation of FAST students who have been studying in Telangana for seven years, will be eligible for fee reimbursement.
